Patera Engineering's Annual Charity Golf Day.

On Friday 15th June, Patera hosted their first. and certainly not their last, Annual Charity Golf day.

Now, those of you that know the business, Golf is something we are passionate about and we enjoy. Something else we are passionate about is family. As a family run business with three generations we treat all our employees, supply chain and clients as part of the family.

When we heard about the news in September last year of Liv Harding being involved in a road traffic accident, we knew at that point we were going to offer support. Liv is the daughter of a close friend of the Patera family, she is a bright and confident young girl who has the whole world ahead of her, she unfortunately lost her right leg as part of the accident and is now using a prosthetic limb. With her sheer determination and support from her family and friends her recovery is going fantastic, but due to her age and growth, her new prosthetic will need replacing regularly, in some cases every 6 months. They don't come cheap too. This is where as a business wanted to help.

So, the annual charity golf day in support of Liv Harding was born, and in its first year, was a huge success!!

Companies from all over Staffordshire and Cheshire were approached to get involved and the commitment from them was amazing, it didn't take long to fill the teams. A total of 72 golfers agreed to take part. But not only did they take part in the golf, they also sponsored holes, donatated auction and raffle prizes too. A real show of generosity and we are sincerely grateful for this. Thank you.

We held the day at Greenway Hall Golf club in Stockton Brook. They were very supportive and flexible to enable us to get exactly what we wanted throughout the day. Its a beautiful setting and I would encourage anyone reading this to get a few rounds down there.

The weather was just right, and all golfers turned up on time and ready to play.

The day went smoothly with all golfers enjoying the occasion with the help of the refreshment buggy. We had various competitions throughout the day rewarding nearest to the pin, longest drive and beat the pro on various holes. Also, mulligans were available too. They were needed!!

The winners of the golf were Darren Stanley's team. With a score of 104, followed by Team Mellards with a score of 96. The wooden spoon goes to our friends at Taylor Wimpey. But the real winner here was of course the charity.

Once the golf was over and all players were fed and watered, it was time to get down to some real fundraising. The auction and raffle were a huge success. We had prizes from a cheese board, to a remote control F1 car, food vouchers, hospitality at Stoke City FC and even a signed referee shirt from all the referees from the premier league last season.

In total we raised over £8000 for Liv Harding and her family. We are very proud and privileged to have such a supportive network. So, thank you to all involved. Next year will be even bigger!!
